THE BLUE NOTE COLLECTIVE

The Blue Note Collective cherry picks the best of Blue Note's recordings from artists such as John Coltrane, Art Blakey, Wayne Shorter, Cannonball Adderley, Horace Silver and Hank Mobley to name but a few.   

Blue Note Records was established in 1939 by Alfred Lion and Max Margulis and grew to become one of the most prolific, influential and respected jazz labels of the mid-20th century, noted for its role in facilitating the development of  Hard Bop, Post Bop and Avant Garde jazz as well as for its iconic modernist art direction.

MATT TELFER

SAXOPHONE

Band leader and saxophone player Matt Telfer has been an active member of the London music scene for the last 25 years.


Originally from Stratford upon Avon, Matt moved to London in 2000 to pursue his musical passion and further his musical studies. Matt has since studied with Phil Woods, Tim Garland and Bob Mintzer.

Matt has played many of the UK's great venues and festival including, Ronnie Scotts, Pizza Express, Jazz Cafe, Love Supreme Festival, Canary Wharf Jazz Festival and Ealing Jazz Festival.

ALEX BABIC

DRUMS

Alex Babic also known as ‘Sacha’ is well known on the current London jazz scene. Jazz came to him later in life after being mostly self taught, he attended Goldsmiths College, under the wing of Howard Riley, one of the UK’s most respected Jazz pianists, where he developed his musical language and jazz chops.   

Alex can be found playing regularly at London’s jazz clubs and also regularly hosts jazz jam sessions and events with established and up and coming jazz players.

DOMINIC BENTHAM

DOUBLE BASS

Dominic Bentham was born in Leicester and learned the cello from the age of 8, taking up double bass and bass guitar at 15. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

Dominic has played with many well-known names in British jazz, including Jason Rebello, Alan Barnes and Clark Tracey. He has performed Robin Holloway’s double bass concerto with orchestra and has composed music for television. He teaches and writes about music. He also leads his own projects.

LIAM STEVENS

PIANO

Liam Stevens hails originally from Wigan and after finishing his Jazz piano studies at Middlesex University, settled in London to pursue his musical career as performer and educator.  

Liam has a strong reputation on the jazz scene with his exciting and hard swinging bebop style. He has performed with many leading jazz artists and can be found regularly playing at many of the UK's finest jazz clubs.
